Our Mission & Appeal
A 3-day authentically envisioned and carefully planned weekend aimed at creating calm, camaraderie and harmony for all those who attend. With nature as our backdrop, we look forward to warmly welcoming those who regularly practice Yoga so they can quickly embrace the many classes led by many minimum 200 RYT (Registered Yoga Teacher) hour practitioners, as well as introducing Yoga, Meditation and Wellness workshops to those who’ve never taken a class or experienced an opportunity to immerse themselves in back to back Yoga classes and wellness options, before!
Everyone – come out, join us then continue this path well beyond our weekend long Fest Retreat. Find your inner calm, it’s there, we know it and despite the hectic pace of life in and around NoVa let us help you on a path to peace and quiet.
Miriam Nasuti - Founder & Creator
A serendipitous opportunity through her participation in LEAD Virginia’s Class of 2011, a state-wide think-tank group -www.LeadVA.org, led Miriam Nasuti to SW Virginia for a weekend in the spring of 2011. While there she fell in love with what
she recalls as an area with a sense of healing, so returned with her family that July for what was a special week-long, nature
While there she fell in love with what she recalls as an area with a sense of healing, so returned with her family that July for what was a special week-long, nature filled vacation. While there she saw a poster for the Inaugural Floyd YogaJam which intrigued her, so she decided to return with her son Connor a month later to attend. Miriam was taken aback by the experience of community and calm it offered all weekend long, so attended four other weekend long Yoga Festivals over the past three years as she considered bringing a unique and special one to NoVa, an area she feels will benefit greatly from this carefully planned weekend long experience, particularly if attendees can extend their stay by either camping, Glamp-ing or staying at a nearby
B & B or hotel.
Nasuti took her time as she and her family experienced what she refers to as ‘the pain you sustain with the change of life.’ As a result her initial vision expanded to assure a focus on overall wellness and calm; that a very relaxed, wrapped around gardens and nature YogaFest Retreat venue was found - the beautiful, graceful Morven Park in Leesburg; a schedule and space for Yoga classes, meditation and workshops that offer a peaceful experience (she recalled rushing a bit from one tent to another at other fests to find her preferred Yoga practice) so decided to theme the Fest Retreat's Yoga & Workshop areas as such - the Calm Yoga Grove, the Active Movement Yoga Tent and the Blended Tent; to assure fresh, tasty and healthy food with both vegetarian and vegan offerings are served by a Chef and culinary team carefully selected, and finally that the music chosen to close out each evening was done to combine both emotionally moving, uplifting and thought-provoking songs as well as, in some cases, tunes that’ll get folks up to dance a bit because she knows it always feels great to do so!
As with all Miriam’s prior projects (Talk Loudoun, Farm-to-Fork Frederick and Farm-to-Fork Loudoun - www.FarmToForkLoudoun.com), a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization was chosen to receive five-percent (5%) of the Business Sponsor’s gross receipts. The inaugural year’s meaningful charity of record is ‘The Ryan Bartel Foundation,’ in memory of young Ryan whose spirit has been part of our
planning —www.RyanBartelFoundation.org. And finally, to honor the thousands of residents who daily attend AA, Al-Anon and other 12-step meetings to improve their lives, a conscious choice was made that our Fest Retreat be alcohol free.
